Do we need a definition of certification? If we make an RDM focused definition of certification then we need to start getting a little more specific, namely certification of research data repositories (RDRs). Any discussion (or definition) of certification should include reference in the extended definition to ISO16363, and the Data Seal of Approval. A good contact for this would be DANS.
There is a need to distinguish between certification and accreditation, so both need to be defined. I agree, we can do a better job in the definition and pulling in other relevant references. Thank you, Matt.
