Approvals - Agenda, Notes from last meeting

Chapter Work

  • IRIDIUM updates - David talking to Claire later today re WG start-up. Portage reached out to CAGS (Sally) to post posters at CAGS conference.
  • SSH Impact work with Federation - Starting up active work thus nothing to report to date
    Janet and Peter Severinson are the leads; more updates on the next call – looking for interested individuals to join this work. Content already exists (see Federation’s report). UK also hosting an impact working group but focused on the requirements of funders.

Granting councils collaboration

  • David and Karina meeting with Matthew Lucas (SSHRC) and Kevin Fitzgibbons (NSERC) November 1 to discuss Tri-Agency – CASRAI engagement model. Celia is the SSHRC Leader (York U) and can speak to the work of CASRAI at the next SSHRC Leaders workshop in December

LCDRI and interactions with ISED

  • One question re: RMI from ISED: CASRAI will be responding. The term RMI is now being used, which is a positive sign

Chapter Business

  • Reconnect 2018 updates. Confirmed date: May 23-24 2018, Carleton University, Ottawa; Kes is finalizing contract with Carleton for the event and using Carleton accommodations. Looking for volunteers particularly for driving sponsorship – recommendations sought. With regard to program: looking for keynote speaker, someone with high RMI interest; need to aim high (Susan); invite someone from the UK – however, need the funds to bring them to Canada; new science adviser (Mona Nemer) / Chair of the CRCC? Action: Cecilia, David and Laura – start with engagement process to approach new science advisor as keynote speaker. Laura/Kes: Will be reaching out to the various working group leads to contribute /present at the event. Will put out a call for posters and sessions: looking for priority items

Outreach Campaign

  • See shared Excel spreadsheet for list of most Canadian universities and all invited to sign up to recruit universities as a members – simply add your name beside the listed university
  • November 8 deadline for committee members to review messaging document and provide commentary

Other

  • At the prompting of Portugal federal research funder, coordinate a submission to the Request for Information being led by ORCID, CrossRef and Datacite on the operation of a new OrgID registry service. December 1 deadline. Some volunteers from US, UK, and looking for Canada Chapter volunteers to assist drafting – Action: David will ask Geoff Harder or Sushanta to volunteer
