Short Definition: A librarian who is responsible for the curation, maintenance, and preservation of the holdings of a collection or library.

Extended Definition: A librarian who is responsible for the curation, maintenance, and preservation of the holdings of a collection or library. Responsibilities might include preservation planning, appraisal, acquisition, negotiation, rescue, ingest, review, inventory, description, verification, migration, and enabling continuing access to physical or digital resources.
